Greg Ferguson, Landscape and Wild Animal Photographer was our speaker at the Sweetwater Camera Club meeting Thursday, April 10th, 2008
By Sweetwater Camera Club
Greg Ferguson, who has studied under some of the best photographers in the world, gave a splendid lecture and presented 3 multi-media slide shows at our April 2008 meeting. The meeting took place in the dining hall of St. Julian’s Episcopal Church, 5400 Stewart’s Mill Road here in Douglasville.

Greg’s lecture was entitled “Good Photographers are Life-Long Learners.” He brought an inspiring message to people who share an interest in photographic excellence. Of his many memorable quotes, here is a sample – “Adopt a willingness to take risks. Go out of your way to get out of your comfort zone—and you will learn.”

Greg's expertise is in photographing majestic landscapes and in depicting the wild animals of South Africa. For these subjects he has become a perpetual student of photography and a world traveler, having recently returned from a photo trip to Antarctica. His powerful imagery features the southwestern United States, some incredible adventures through the Grand Canyon and many parts of South Africa, where he has specialized in artfully documenting the ever-diminishing wild animal populations there.

Greg’s command of photography, printing, and humor was very motivating, entertaining and informative. A perfectionist at printing as well as shooting, Ferguson displayed many of his large format prints from his collection. He also judged our April “Transportation” photo contest and the Cherry Blossom Festival field trip contest.

Mr. Ferguson is the president of Kreg Information Systems (www.kreg.com) a hospital & healthcare financial management and information systems company located in Piedmont Center in Buckhead, Atlanta.
