2011 July Meeting Invitation
Written by Richard Nichols

Good afternoon, Sweetwater Camera Club members, visitors and friends . . .

You are invited to join us this Thursday evening, July 14th at 7 p.m. for an evening hosted by our very own vice president, Mr. Angelo Muhammad of A1 Video Productions and Photography.

Angelo has been doing quite a lot of traveling lately to foreign countries, from Haiti and Costa Rica to Rome, Italy, so we are lucky that he is here to give a presentation . . .

Angelo will be the critiquer and judge for our Frog’s Perspective color and monochrome contests, and our Dallas Georgia Classic Car Show Field Trip contest. You do not have to be a member of the Sweetwater Camera Club to attend our meetings or participate in our field trips. Should you wish to participate in SCC photo contests, you must pay your dues to become a member or to renew your membership. You can do that by visiting www.sweetwatercameraclub.org/membership . You may also join by coming to our meeting and making a payment to SCC Secretary Stella Spyrou.

REAL WORK ALERT: SCC Member Bill Malone is looking for someone to help photograph and video his West Fulton High School 50th Reunion on September 24th. If you are interested and do great work, you might want to send Bill an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The numbers I have listed for him are (770) 460-0564 and (404) 771-3910.

This month’s contest: Frog’s Perspective: Take a look at the world from a frog's point of view. Get down on the ground for this one.

2011 Contest Topics: The contest topics for this year are located at http://www.sweetwatercameraclub.org/contests/contest-topics-a-descriptions/contests-2011. You can find out more about the contest rules on the web at http://www.sweetwatercameraclub.org/contests . The rules state that you may enter two photos each in the color, monochrome and field trip categories. Attached you will also find a proof of the next SCC Photo Contest page which will appear in the August issue of the Chapel Hill News & Views magazine.

We give you 5 topics to go shoot, starting at 1 p.m. and your mission is to return before 4:30 p.m. and turn in no more than 2 each of your best shots from each topic. People bring their laptops or go home and work on their home computers and return to the library in time for the deadline.

Library Display Exhibit for July 31st to August 30th: The Sweetwater Camera Club and the Digital Image Group have been asked to display some of our work at the Douglas County Library for the month of August. If you are interested in helping up put up this display or interested in displaying some of your work in the large glass showcases in the entry hall of the library, please send me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will go from there. We need to have the display up on Sunday, July 31st. The purpose is to promote and publicize these two great visual arts groups.

Digital Image Group on Thursday, July 21st: For those of you who are interested in coming to the Digital Image Group, to show your work or see what others are doing, our next meeting is next Thursday, July 21st at 6:30 p.m. or later. It will be held at the Douglasville School of Art at 6778 West Broad Street here in Douglasville. We have managed to create tarp curtains to cover the 13 windows there so our presentations won’t be inundated by sunlight. We just need for people to bring their own chairs. Please do not leave your chairs there at the end of the meeting.

Keep up your photography skills and learn new ones! See you at the Sweetwater Camera Club meeting!
