Field Trips 2011

We will have an exciting year full of photographic opportunities planned for 2011.

When we take a trip that calls for carpooling or vanpooling, we will meet behind the Cultural Arts Center, 8652 Campbellton Street, at the specified time. You should make your own arrangement.

Check back a couple of days prior to event for any changes or updates. Please keep in mind some plans are subject to change with little notice due to weather, cancellations, and/or unforeseen circumstances.

1:30 p.m. Free Marietta, GA Sunday afternoon, March 20th, at 1:30 p.m. we will make pictures at the Marietta Confederate Cemetery (known officially as the Marietta National Cemetery). Duluth, GA Saturday Morning, March 26th, at 10 a.m. we will meet at the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia. 3595 Buford Hwy, NW, Duluth, GA 30096. Here is a map with directions from Douglasville: http://tinyurl.com/4qnseve . The cost is $8 per person, $6.00 for senior citizens. If 12 or more of us show up, we get a $2 discount. This museum’s website is located at http://www.srmduluth.org/default.shtml. The website says: “The Southeastern Railway Museum occupies a 35-acre site in Duluth, Georgia, in northeast suburban Atlanta. In operation since 1970, SRM features about 90 items of rolling stock including historic Pullman cars and classic steam locomotives.”

10:00 a.m. Free Conyers, GA Saturday Morning, April 16th at 10 a.m. A visit to Arabia Mountain State Park at Davidson-Arabia Mountain just outside of Conyers GA. The Arabia Mountain park has walking trails and 2000 acres of granite outcrop, wetlands, pine and oak forests, streams and a lake. More information will be provided as the date draws near. 11:00 a.m. Free Douglasville, GA Saturday, all day, May 14th beginning at 11 a.m. TASTE OF DOUGLASVILLE ARTS: Food & Fun, Outdoor Arts Exhibition, Crafts, Kids Korner & Entertainment, O’Neal Plaza in Historic Downtown Douglasville. Free and open to the public. The Sweetwater Camera Club will have a booth—in fact, quite a large booth where we will be photographing visitors to the TASTE event. Proceeds will go to support the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County. We will need volunteers to make pictures, print pictures, handle the portrait sittings and especially to reach out to people in the crowds and suggest that they have their portraits made.
