Hello, Photography Lovers,
It’s time to perfect your close-up photography technique. The Sweetwater Camera Club Field Trip Committee is holding the April Field Trip this Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the home and gardens of artist- landscape designers Katherine and Doug Dannels at 6467 East Strickland Street in Downtown Douglasville. We will meet in their back yard at 10.
The subjects of this field trip are “close up and flower photography.” Field Trip Committee Chairman Greg Knobloch will be on hand to discuss techniques for making good close-ups of natural subjects. You are invited to attend this “peak of Spring” event. Bring your camera equipment and practice using your close-up features. Tripods are welcome.
Katherine and Doug Dannels call their business “A Beautiful Garden Design.” The address again is 6467 East Strickland Street, Douglasville, GA 30134 – I’ve attached a map here. You can park next door to the Dannels at the Douglas Teen Health and Resource Center, 6457 East Strickland. The Dannels’ website is http://web.mac.com/abeautifulpond . They design and build ponds with waterfalls and garden landscapes, among other things. Katherine is a painter as well and Doug is a sculptor.
According to Katherine, there are a number of flowers that will be at their peak this weekend. Their large back yard is home to a number of flowering plants, 4 kinds of iris, azaleas, tulips, snapdragons, creeping phlox, a lilac bush, violets, and a variety of butterfly luring flora . . .
Artist and sculptor Doug Dannels places his original designs in and around his gardens. You can view some of his works here: http://web.mac.com/abeautifulpond/iWeb/ABGD/Doug%20Dannels,Designer.html
The photo contest for our May 8th monthly meeting is “Macro and Close-up” photography so this is a good chance to make some interesting photos and enter them in the contest.
In addition, our guest speakers for the May meeting will be Pat and Tom Cory of Cory Photography from Signal Mountain Tennessee, close to Chattanooga. They will be presenting their artistic close-up photography program as well as judging the contest. You can visit their website at: http://www.tomandpatcory.com/ .
We hope to see you at the Field Trip and at the May meeting. Our field trips are designed to be informal get-togethers to practice and learn the art and craft of making good pictures in the company of enthusiastic peers. In case of rain, bring your underwater equipment.
