Upcoming Photographic Fieldtrips
By Sweetwater Camera Club

The Sweetwater Camera Club Field Trip Committee is pleased to announce the following fieldtrips for Camera Club members:

1. Saturday, March 1, 2008 - Callaway Gardens - Butterfly Garden – this will be indoors . . . (otherwise the butterflies would fly away).

2. Saturday, March 29, 2008 - Macon, GA - The Cherry Blossom Festival – one of the southeast’s most enjoyable spring festivals.

3. Saturday, April 26, 2008 - Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta – a huge variety of historical and architectural details in a beautiful setting.

We are currently planning trips to Providence Canyon State Park below Columbus, GA, along with a variety of other photographic activities during 2008 that may include a rodeo, barrel racing, a hot air balloon race, a horse show and a ball game. Our plan is to have AT LEAST one field trip per month, usually on the 4th Saturday of the month (two weeks after each meeting) unless scheduling a particular event requires a different day or date. Events may be rescheduled in cases of inclement weather.

There may be more than one field trip during some months. Members in good standing (with paid-up dues) are eligible to participate in any and all field trips. Some field trips will be free; some will require entrance fees. We will try to mix local events with several that require travel to other cities and regional venues. Again, Visitors to the SCC may participate in fieldtrips by joining the club, which costs $18 a year for singles, $30 a year for families.

FIELD TRIP ON-LINE PHOTO ALBUMS/SLIDE SHOWS: Shortly after each field trip we will be asking the participants to upload their best photos to the photo album section of the website for all to appreciate. Instructions on how to achieve this will be provided as the situation arises.

Car Pooling: Field Trips will involve car pooling until our organization becomes wealthy enough to afford van and bus rentals (perhaps as a non-profit organization we could apply for grants .  .  . ). The current plan is for field trip participants to meet at a staging area, for example, the Douglasville City Hall parking lot in order to team up and head out. More details to come.

Your Field Trip Committee is composed of Greg Knobloch, Chairman, along with committee members Jim Gardner, Karen Kendrick, Mary Lesh, Norma and Richard Nichols.

Thanks for your interest and participation. We plan on making this the best and most successful “hands-on” year the Sweetwater Camera Club has ever had! Let’s all go have a great 2008.
